SCAPA

Scapa Port Information

Scapa PortScapa Flow is a well known sheltered deep water port - home to large oil tankers, ferries and fishing boats - which is synonymous with the oil industry.

Tankers loaded with oil for local use are discharged at Scapa Pier using dedicated pipelines running from the pier direct into the Tank Farm at Highland Fuels.

Maximum Size of Tankers

Typical tanker using the berth would be approx 90 metres long with a draft of 5.4metres.

Orkney Marine Services would undertake risk assessments of any vessel larger than that.

Tidal

The harbour is dredged to a depth of 6 metres which enables vessels to work alongside at anytime.

Towage

3 Harbour Tugs are available each with 50 tonne bollard pull.

Deep water berths

Scapa Flow is a large area with deep water and any size of vessel can anchor safely.

Bunkering

Flow rate with 3 inch pipeline is 60m3 per hour max. There are 2 bunkering points on Scapa Pier.

Storage in tanks is 1200m3
